Dit monument ligt ten westen van Central Park. Het is gemaakt door Gaetano Russo in 1892 ter van de ontdekkingsreiziger Christopher Columbus. Dit marmeren standbeeld van Columbus is geplaatst op een granieten kolom van 70 voet hoog welke is versierd met bronzen reliëfs.

De drie schepen op de kolom representeren de Nina, de Pinta en de Santa Maria. De omringende fontein was een gift van George T. Delacorte. Deze werd in 1965 geplaatst. Op het voetstuk staan 2 inscripties.

Op de voorkant staat:

to the world, he gave a world.

joy and glory
never uttered a more thrilling call
than that which resounded
from the conquered ocean
in sight of the first american island
